A Yachting Membership in the club offers members favorable slip rental rates as well as access to club facilities, dining, racquet sports and pool. Hurricane Season 2025
(June 1 - November 30)
Hurricane season is upon us once again and will last through November 30th. Please take a moment to read this very important information. The WYCC would like to ensure that all slip owners receive as much information as possible to aid in the preparation for any upcoming storm.
The following terms are used by weather forecasters:
- HURRICANE WATCH - A hurricane may strike our area within 48 hours.
- HURRICANE WARNING - A hurricane may strike within 36 hours.
Please be advised that at the time a Hurricane Watch is issued, WYCC and its personnel will begin to secure the common areas.
- PLAN AHEAD, CLEAR TRASH / DEBRIS / DOCK BOXES AND ANY UNNECESSARY ITEMS. Implement as many precautions as practical in advance, such as removing all loose and stored items from the vessel’s open areas as well as unnecessary items stored on board your vessel. Such items that might become projectiles during the storm can cause damage not only to your vessel but also to the piers, other vessels, and all buildings surrounding the area.
If your powerboat is underneath on C, D or E Docks and does not have an overhead clearance of at least 8 feet, you MUST remove it from under the cover (anchor out or relocate to another facility) if directed by the Dock Master. The Dock Master will notify you by email when we are under a Hurricane Watch. Also, if you are located on a "T" dock on A or D, you will be required to move your boat.
This is in the WYCC Marina rules and must be obeyed to avoid damage to our docks. - ANY BOATS THAT HAVE A TRAILER MUST BE HAULED TO YOUR HOUSE. Trailered boats cannot be left in the parking lot due to potential water rise. Please plan on doing this as soon as we come under a Hurricane Watch, as the launch area could become inaccessible as a storm approaches.
If you plan on leaving your boat tied up at the dock, please ensure you double up your lines. - REVIEW YOUR INSURANCE. Review your insurance policies to ensure you are fully covered. Inventory and take pictures of your vessel. The WYCC does not carry insurance for your boat.
- LET US DO OUR JOBS AFTER A STORM. While we know it may be tempting to try and call to see how we fared during the storm, please do not do so. WYCC employees will be extremely busy getting things back to normal. Management will mass email periodic updates to all owners and let you know of current conditions and when services have been restored. Please make sure that management has an updated email address for you. Updates and news will also be posted on the websites.
Try to stay away until you hear from us via email or see on the website that it is safe to return.
