Washington Yacht & Country Club features an 18-hole par 72 golf course measuring 6609 yards from the Blue tees. The course was originally constructed as a 9-hole facility in 1949 by architect William Gordon who was a
Charter Member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. An additional 9 holes were constructed in 1977 by well know architect Gene Hamm, a native of North Carolina who
designed more than 60 layouts in Virginia, Tennessee, New York, and throughout the Carolinas.
The well bunkered course features 419 Bermuda fairways, roughs, and tees, while the greens were rebuilt with Dominant Plus Bent Grass in 2007.
With driving range, large putting green, chipping and sand trap practice area, WYCC has a complete set of facilities for the avid golfer.
Course Superintendant Buckley Brockmann, a past Board Member of the Eastern North Carolina Turfgrass Association, brings experience from several country clubs in the region and knows the Eastern Carolina conditions. The course is in excellent shape and the greens have never looked better. Buckley and Katie are a familiar sight on the course.
